PROUD TO BE A MILLION DOLLAR TEAM! BACK FOR THE EIGHTH YEAR!
It was the perfect storm. Take one veteran spin instructor/Equinox employee, a blog about a three-year-old cancer-fighting Rockstar, and a video of a check presentation in a spin studio. Mix this with the desire to do something in the memory of two friends lost way too soon. Throw in a little passion and a lot of heart. It was from this that TEAM ROCKSTAR was born. What started as a group of strangers and "I-only-see-you-at-6am-in-gym-clothes" people in DC back in the fall of 2011 has grown to become a dedicated group of friends and friends-of-friends spreading to four cities (Bethesda, Boston, New York City and DC) over eight Cycle or Survival seasons committed to seeing our passion in action. We ride with courage. We ride for hope. We ride because asking for money can be hard, but watching our loved ones suffer from cancer is harder. We ride for parents and brothers and uncles and friends. We ride for children and grandparents and neighbors. We ride for teammates. WE RIDE ... BECAUSE WE CAN.
Led by 20-year indoor cycling instructor veteran and Equinox instructor, Colleen Fisher, our amazing team of Rockstars — which reached a record 101 riders in 2018 — has finished among the top 10 teams for fundraising nationwide for seven years running. We became a “million dollar team” in 2017, and have raised a total of $1,440,862 for rare cancer research to date — and we’re not stopping there! This year, we will ride in Bethesda on Sunday, February 24th and in DC on Saturday, March 2nd. We are forever grateful to our countless donors who make it happen, and we’d love to have your support (on or off the bike!) as we ride to beat rare cancers again in 2019.
We started this journey in 2012, and we gave so many people hope on that glorious February Sunday — which is all we could have asked for. For all the Rockstars out there who fight every single day, we continue to ride to make a difference. We encourage you to read the personal stories of each of our riders.
