I’m raising money with Cycle for Survival, the movement to beat rare cancers.
I ride in memory of my 9 year old God-cousin Bailey Buell. I ride because a rare cancer took her life and took her away from me. I've known her since she was born and she was the first baby I remember holding. She was funny, she was smart, and she always had a smile for me and my brothers. We came up with the best games to play together and had fun no matter what we were doing. Some of my favorite memories were going away to sleepaway camp together and celebrating New Years Eve together. We loved skiing, sledding, and making movies, and I used to love to give her piggyback rides.
She meant so much to me and my family and I don't want cancer to do this to any other family ever again.
This fundraiser is really important because rare cancer research is underfunded. All pediatric cancers are rare, but the cancer Bailey had, which is called Rhabdomyosarcoma, is even rarer. We need to fund science to help find better treatments for these cancers, and eventually a cure.
50% of People With Cancer Have a Rare Cancer
About half of all people with cancer have a rare form of the disease. Rare cancers include many types you’ve likely heard of, such as leukemia and lymphoma, thyroid, ovarian, brain, and pancreatic cancers, as well as all pediatric cancers.
100% of Your Donation Supports Research.
It is often challenging to secure funding for rare cancer research, which is why support from Cycle for Survival is so crucial. Every dollar you give will go directly to innovative research and clinical trials at MSK. Discoveries made at MSK revolutionize how cancer is diagnosed and treated, benefiting people worldwide.
Thank you for your generosity. Together, we will beat rare cancers.
