JOIN THE BATTLE. Beat Rare Cancers.

Team Perry is named for my 19 year old niece, Perry Zimmerman, a FOUR-TIME CANCER SURVIVOR. As a baby, she had tumors in both eyes (retinoblastoma) which were successfully treated by the ocular oncologist at Sloan-Kettering. At age 2, Perry developed a pineoblastoma (brain tumor) which required almost a year of treatment. At the time she was treated, survival rates for that tumor were essentially zero...but Perry beat that cancer too. She has now also had two osteosarcomas (bone tumors), the last diagnosed early in her senior year of high school. Despite on-going treatment, Perry was able to graduate from high school last June and has now completed her first semester at Lafayette College!

Simply put, Perry is the strongest person I know. She has more tolerance, grace and wisdom than I've seen in anyone.

Here's Perry on New Years Eve 2019: "Thanks 2019 for being full of some of my lowest moments but at the same time being full of so many highs...as we ring in the new decade, I am just full of gratitude for everyone who has been at my side this year. I'm grateful for all the MSK Kids doctors and nurses for everything they do for all their patients; and I'm so happy I've found my place in college. Only 3 treatments left y'all but, I know it sounds weird - I'm gonnal miss the hospital so much." A strong statement from a four-time survivor about the impact these MSKCC doctors and nurses have on patients.

All of Perry's cancers are rare. Rare cancer patients make up about half of all people fighting cacncer, but they often have limited or no treatment options because rare cancer research is drastically underfunded. Please help to ensure there are treatments for these rare cancers by joining Team Perry to raise funds for research in pediatric eye and brain tumors.
