We are excited to welcome Cycle for Survival to Houston for YEAR TWO of this amazing event!
With 100% of every dollar you give, you’ll be supporting innovative rare cancer research. Discoveries made at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center revolutionize how rare cancers are diagnosed and treated, benefiting oncologists and cancer patients fighting cancer worldwide. All pediatric cancers are rare cancers. Equinox and its amazing instructors give their space and time so that 100% of your donation goes to rare cancer research.
OUR STORY: We are passionate about rare cancer research because, like for so many, this issue is personal for us. In 2013, our then 4 month old baby was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma, a rare pediatric eye cancer. Our daughter was treated by the best in class retinoblastoma team at MSK, who saved her life, her eyes, and her vision, using cutting edge treatments developed by her doctor through his research at MSK. There is nothing that changes you more than a life threatening diagnosis in your child. It is a moment that we, as parents, will never forget, and it is our goal that we can give the gift of hope in that moment to other parents, by continuing to fund rare cancer research. We are thankful each and every day for the outcome that our doctors were able to give us. It was the research that doctors were able to point to during our daughter's diagnosis and treatment that kept us going day to day. We go back yearly for check ups and seeing other families and children in their fight makes us determined each year to give back to rare & pediatric cancer reseach, so other families can be given the same gift: hope of a positive outcome for their child.
We learned about the amazing fundraising that Cycle for Survival accomplishes, but that this event was held in every major city (NYC, DC, Chicago, Dallas... to name a few) but NOT in Houston. Last year Houton SHOWED UP - raising around $30,000 for cancer research. Not to mention that this fundraiser is FUN and unique: a 50 minute uplifting and sweaty cycle class (for all levels)!!! It takes place at the beautiful Equinox River Oaks space. Participants will have access to gym amenities before and after the event.
Join us and donate today. Your gift will help bring new and improved diagnostics and treatments. Since 2007, the Cycle for Survival community has enabled hundreds of MSK doctors and scientists to pursue bold ideas. Funding from Cycle for Survival has led to the FDA approval of new drugs, lifesaving clinical trials, state-of-the-art DNA sequencers that are aiding in key cancer breakthroughs — and much more. I encourage you to follow @cycleforsurvival on instagram to learn more about the movement and understand how life changing the mission is. If you are unable to make the event, you can still donate directly to the team. You can also share the event page with friends and family and ask them to join you for the ride!
Thank you for supporting. Together, we will beat rare cancers. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to Karen & Kevin or the Cycle for Survival team at melissa.byrd@cycleforsurvival.org
