Welcome to our team's fundraising page! We're participating in Cycle for Survival to raise funds for rare cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), a global leader in cancer treatment.
Cycle for Survival is a movement dedicated to defeating rare cancers. Since 2007, our community has channeled its passion into this life-saving cause, providing essential funding to MSK doctors and scientists in their pursuit of bold and innovative treatments — aiming not just to treat but to cure those facing rare cancers.
Every day, progress is made step by step, bringing us closer to the day when the battle against rare cancers will be won. However, the journey remains long, and we need the mobilization of all available resources to support ongoing research. This commitment is in honor of the millions of lives tragically cut short, including our incredible and beloved friends, Fausta and Nancy.
We Cycle in Loving Memory of Fausta and Nancy
Fausta and Nancy were two beautiful souls, two exceptional human beings whose presence was a true blessing in our lives, but who unfortunately and unjustly succumbed to their battle with cancer.
Fausta was a radiant force of nature, a truly remarkable woman we were honored to call our friend. Kind, generous, smart, fun, beautiful, and compassionate, she possessed a unique ability to express genuine empathy and love. Fausta could light up a room with her presence, the warmth of her voice, her smile, and her zest for life. Deeply cherished by her family and friends, loving Fausta was inevitable, and every moment with her was a joy.
Pancreatic cancer claimed Fausta's life on May 12th, 2021, at the young age of 36. Throughout her battle, she faced immense suffering with unwavering strength, inspiring thousands with her courage. Nearly four years later, we are still grappling with the disbelief of this unjust tragedy, missing her immensely every day. On March 8th, 2025, what would have been her 40th birthday, we will cycle in her memory, we will cycle to tell her story, we will cycle for Fausta.
Nancy was our beloved nanny for nine wonderful years. To us and our children, she was far more than a caregiver—she was a true member of our family, a cherished friend, and an extraordinary educator. Her presence enriched our lives in countless ways.
Despite facing a life filled with personal challenges, Nancy embodied perseverance and resilience. In February 2023, she was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer, beginning the toughest battle of her life. Yet, even in the face of such adversity, she continued to shower us, our children, and even our dog with her infectious joy, heartfelt laughter, warmth, generosity, and boundless love.
After 18 months of courageously navigating successful treatment, Nancy's journey was tragically cut short by a rare and relentless complication: leptomeningeal disease. In the span of just a few weeks, we lost her, but her legacy of bravery, kindness, and unwavering integrity will live on as a guiding light for us and for our children.
Nancy received care at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where she was supported by an extraordinary team of doctors, nurses, and staff. Their exceptional skills, compassion, and dedication meant the world to her and to us. We extend our deepest gratitude to the MSK community for the remarkable care they provided.
Our ride for Fausta and Nancy aims to share their story and legacy, raising awareness about the fight against rare cancer. It's time to pool all available resources to support scientific research in this critical field.
