Alexander Rosenwald
If you're here, it means you already know the story, but I'm happy to tell the tale once again.
Back in May 2024, I walked away from a car crash injury-free but with the knowledge of a mass on my left kidney. I immediately contacted Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, got connected with Dr. Paul Russo and his team at MSK , and developed a surgery plan to remove the kidney. After the surgery in August 2024, the tumor was diagnosed as renal cell clear cell carcinoma, which had the potential to spread. I was then connected with Dr. Robert Motzer and his team, where I've been undergoing immunotherapy and participating in a clinical trial that can give oncologists new knowledge to develop advanced methods in the fight against cancer.
As a lifelong athlete, being active is the norm for me, and recovering from surgery and adapting to life with one kidney has been a slow but successful journey. Now that I'm (mostly) recovered, it's time to get back to training. I've raised money for various charities through running and fitness in the past, but I knew I wanted to find a way to give back to MSK, to try to support the treatment and care that has quite literally saved my life. Of course, MSK was there for me, as it has been this past year, with Fred's Team.
I’m taking on the United Airlines NYC Half with Fred’s Team, the official running program of MSK. My goal is to raise as much as I can to support groundbreaking cancer research at MSK, and your donation will give me a boost as I train for my race.
100% of Your Donation Supports Research
Named in honor of New York City Marathon co-founder and MSK patient Fred Lebow, Fred’s Team brings together passionate runners and supporters to lead the way against cancer. 100% of the funds I raise will go directly into MSK labs focusing on kidney cancer, where doctors like Dr. Motzer and his team work every day to find new cures and new treatments.
Donate Today!
When you make a gift to Fred’s Team, you help MSK researchers develop better treatment options for the people who need them most. Together, we can make a big difference.
Words cannot express the gratitude that I have, and I am truly honored and thankful for your support.
