Chloe Markey
I’m taking on the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon with Fred’s Team, the official running program of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK). MSK holds a special place in my heart as my mom (shown crossing the finish line of the 1992 NYC marathon) was briefly treated as MSK before losing her battle with cancer in 2015. This photo hung in the office of my childhood home and I admired it for as long as I can remember, dreaming of following in her footsteps and running the NYC marathon one day.
In recent years my siblings and I have bonded over running, tackling a half marathon and marathon together. My mom's presence has felt strong in these moments - she would have been in her element at these races. I know running the NYC marathon with Miles and Faith will be a special way for us to honor our mom. I am thrilled to be able to run for Fred's Team and I hope to raise as much as I can to support MSK's groundbreaking cancer research.
