Laurence Hasson
In June 2016, I lost my beloved mother z"l to cancer, and I've been fundraising for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) and running marathons with Fred's Team ever since. To date, with your generosity, I've raised over $200,000 for MSK, which is absolutely incredible, but regrettably not enough to end the war on cancer once and for all. For that reason, I am back, year after year (as long as my legs and wife allow it) - and I hope that you will consider renewing your support for my fundraising efforts for MSK pediatrics. Most, if not all of us, have been touched by cancer. This is a good cause - a truly worthy cause - and I hope that you will offer generous support (whatever that may mean to you)! Everything and anything counts and is deeply appreciated!
In March 2024, I had the privilege to run the Tokyo Marathon - my first international race - which I completed in 3:52:51. I never thought Tokyo would happen, but since it has, I am now also on the quest to complete all six Abbott World's Major Marathons (NYC, Chicago, Tokyo, Berlin, London, & Boston). I've run NYC, Chicago, and Tokyo already, and hope that the upcoming Berlin marathon in September will be my fourth major. What does this mean for you? Not much other than that you may get a change of scenery from time to time on my social media. But the primary goal is and will always be to give MSK the tools to eradicate cancer.
Despite running as much as I do now, I still do not consider myself a true runner - I remain a charity runner. I still do not have a passion for the sport, but I do have immense respect for it, and am so incredibly grateful that it has given me a platform for charitable work that moves me. I reiterate this because I really do thrive on your energy, encouragement, and support during my training. If you like what I do and/or how I do it please don't keep that to yourself - show me some love in person, on social media, and most importantly with your financial support. Help me imagine a world without cancer!
xoxo,
Laurence
