2 years ago I had breast cancer and had my surgery at MSK! I ran the 2023 NYC Marathon with Fred's Team to raise money for Breast Cancer!
This year I am running to support Dr Ramaswamy's research and children's leukemia. My dear friend Maria Welch's neice Miranda is currently undergoing treatment for leukemia at MSK, and I am taking on the 2024 BMW Berlin Marathon with Fred's Team to support her! Let's do this!!!
From Miranda's family:
On June 12th 2024 our entire family’s world came crashing down when we learned about the diagnosis of my niece Miranda. Though usually a vivacious, kind and sweet girl, Miranda was suddenly constantly ran down and tired. Blood-work quickly confirmed our family’s worst nightmare. Miranda had been diagnosed with leukemia. As many of you know, leukemia is a type of blood cancer that quickly progresses, if not addressed, and years ago children would have perished to this illness within weeks. Thankfully, because of doctors like Dr. Ramaswamy and the incredible amount of research that has gone into this, children in the United States now have 95%+ survival rates. Once we met Dr. Ramaswamy, we started to breathe again. On top of being a top scientist in the field of leukemia, she is an unbelievably kind and empathetic doctor with wonderful bedside manner. She connected with Miranda eye-to-eye and explained the entire process to her – reassuring her and giving her the strength she needs to fight this terrible illness. Let’s raise money to fund the END of childhood leukemia so no other child has to fight this fight alone.
