Timothy Wolfe
I first met Helene, my mother-in-law, as a wide-eyed freshman in college living across the country from my family. She welcomed me with open arms into the family, hosting me on countless trips down to LA. We 'calmly debated' the rules in highly competitve party games, disproved my many unsubstantiated trivia facts, and she made me feel like I had family close by in those formative years. We were close enough that she drove me to the jewelry store when I purchased an engagement ring for her daughter and she concocted a hilarious story about my father-in-law's bowel movements as a cover. This is how I remember Helene - she was curious, driven, funny, and made me feel loved like one her own children.
Nearly 10 years ago in late 2014, Helene was diagnosed with glioblastoma and passed away just four months later in March. In honor of Helene, I’m running the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon with my wife and sister-in-law to support Fred’s Team, the official running program of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK). Your donations will go directly towards brain cancer research. I hope this is an opportunity to honor Helene's legacy and give other families additional time with their loved ones.
