After years of talk, Doug and Robe are finally taking on the New York City Marathon this November - with Fred's Team, the official running program of Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) Cancer Center! In addition to shedding some beer poundage, some brotherly bonding, and indulging our obsession for New York's buildings, bridges, tunnels, waterways, and general geography, there is meaning to our mileage this year!
18 years ago, our mother underwent a bone-marrow transplant at Sloan to cure her 2nd bout of cancer. The doctor's at Sloan and years of research saved her life. As such, we are thrilled that 100% of raised funds go directly into MSK labs, specifically to adult bone marrow transplant research, where doctors and scientists work every day to find new cures. Since 1995, Fred’s Team participants have raised over $110 million. Our goal this year is $7,000, $3,500 each.
We sure hope to catch ya at the post race rager (location TBD). It's a great cause, we're stoked, and any donation of course would be very much appreciated!
