Welcome to my fundraising page - I know there are dozens, if not hundreds or thousands of viable and meaningful charitable organizations to choose from. Let me tell you a little bit about why I chose to partner with my team (Tiny Terror Team) and Cycle for Survival to raise well needed funds for rare cancer research.
First and most important, rare cancer research is underfunded. Cycle for Survival helps fill the gap by providing much-needed support to MSK doctors and scientists in pursuit of bold ideas. From new FDA-approved drugs to innovative diagnostic technologies, Cycle for Survival–funded breakthroughs made at MSK are transforming how people with a rare cancer are treated worldwide.
That brings to me to the second reason - Sunny. My mother was diagnosed in August of 2014 with pancreatic cancer and although battled through surgery, chemo, radiation, drug treatments, she passed away 18 months later. It wasn't really a battle because the cancer had won. It has been 8 years since my mother passed away and I have been raising money and awareness ever since. My role is small, but I hope meaningful. You can help me make a difference by donating. Unfortunately we all know someone who has or had cancer.
My goal is to give others a fighting chance. The 5 year survival rate in particular for pancreatic cancer is less than 5% - that is terrible, horrible. Let's continue to fund the researchers. MSK has done terriffic work and making progress in so many ways, but honestly we need more support, we need more research and more hope. I would love to see a day where pancreatic cancer is survivable.
