new blm lapel pin with backer.jpgBlack Lives Matter Plaza Lapel Pin

A two-block section of street, Black Lives Matter Plaza adds to Washington, DC’s long list of sights rooted in the fight for racial equality.  On June 5, 2020, during the series of George Floyd protests, the DC Department of Public Works with the assistance of the Murals DC program painted the words “Black Lives Matter” in 35-foot-tall yellow capital letters with the DC flag accompanying the text on 16th Street, NW north of Lafayette Square near the White House.  The naming of the street has been seen by many as not only a reaction to the protest but part of it.  The enamel pin measures 1 ½” wide by ½” tall.
