Waiting for the Sunrise--Cherry Blossoms Photo Collage, 16"x20"

This photo collage of cherry tress at the Tidal Basin was created by local artist Matthew Parker from 31 different photographs taken on the following dates and times:

March 30, 2009:         5:17p – 5:20p

March 31, 2009:         5:26p – 5:30p

April 4, 2009:             6:02a – 6:30a

Parker's use of pictures taken at different times lends his work a sense of space and time not normally seen in photographs. This limited edition collage is composed of 2.5"x3 photos layered and rotated differently to make each work unique. A mat is then cut around the collage’s many different angles. Every print is hand numbered, signed by the artist and embossed with his initials 'MBP'. The work also comes as 8"X10" and 9"x12" prints. See detail of the collage here.
