Lake Point Tower Postcard--Build Your Own Chicago
When built in 1968 this 70-story tower across from Navy Pier was the tallest apartment building in the world: 645 feet. It was inspired by a rough sketch done in 1921 by Mies van der Rohe and completed by his students John Heinrich and George Schipporeit. The tower sits on a raised platform with a private park above and parking beneath. This card includes all pieces and instructions necessary to make a complete paper model at 1:000 scale, approx. 2.5" tall. All the cards in the Build Your Own Chicago series are mailable postcards, with space on the reverse for a stamp and address and a message. Each card also includes a short but informative description of the landmark the model represents. Instructions are included in the form of multi-lingual isometric diagrams. There is also a Build Your Own New York series.
