big six grouping sml.jpgThe Big Six Jigsaw Puzzle Collection

The Big Six: In a celebration of the life and legacy of the late Rep. John Lewis, a towering figure of the Civil Rights movement, six artists created murals commemorating the members of the "Big Six" who organized the original March on Washingon in 1963: John Lewis, Chairman, Student Non-Violence Coordinatiing Committee; Whitney Young, National Director, Urban League; A. Philip Randolph, President, Negro American Labor Council; Martin Luther King Jr., President, Southern Christian Leadership Conference; James Farmer, Director, Congress of Racial Equality; Roy Wilkins, Executive Secretary, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

The P.A.I.N.T.S. Institute commissioned six artists to create the murals that were painted live on August 28 and 29, 2020, on the West Lawn of the National Building Museum. These puzzles preserve the art created and stand as a visual reminder of the ongoing conversation about equality and justice these civil rights activists began. The 300-piece puzzle measures 12" x 16" and are sold indivually. Choose your favorite or buy all six. Proceeds from the sale of the puzzle benefit the programs and services of the National Building Museum and the P.A.I.N.T.S. Institute. Visit Murals That Matter: Activism Through Public Art to learn more about the artists who painted these murals and others created during the summer of 2020.
