Liquid Stone: New Architecture in Concrete

Published in response to enthusiastic public demand, the catalogue for the Museum’s acclaimed exhibition Liquid Stone: New Architecture in Concrete is now available. The book is co-edited by the National Building Museums Senior Vice President and Curator Martin Moeller and Jean-Louis Cohen of the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University. Moeller, says that the catalogue is an “exploration of how a common and seemingly banal material—concrete—can be used to create poetic and seductive structures.”
The book includes descriptive text, photographs, and drawings of all of the contemporary architectural projects in the exhibition, which ran from June 2004 to January 2006. It also features information about virtually all of the new technologies and products that appeared in the show. In addition,contains several essays by prominent historians, architects, and engineers with expertise in concrete design and technology. Contributors include Adrian Forty, Réjean Legault, Guy Nordenson, Antoine Picon, Franz-Josef Ulm, and Tod Williams and Billie Tsien.
