Woolworth Building Postcard--Build Your Own New York
This "Cathedral of Commerce" was the world's tallest skyscraper when completed in 1913. Architect Cass Gilbert felt the Gothic style best expressed the verticality of the modern city. An observation balcony at the top of the pyramidal roof and the ornate elevator lobby were once popular tourist attractions but are no longer accessible to the public. This card includes all pieces and instructions necessary to make a complete paper model at 1:2500 scale, approx. 3.75" tall. All the cards in the Build Your Own New York series are mailable postcards, with space on the reverse for a stamp and address and a message. Each card also includes a short but informative description of the landmark the model represents. Instructions are included in the form of multi-lingual isometric diagrams. There is also a Build Your Own Chicago Series.
