LB_UT_small.jpgUnity Temple Wooden Model Kit

This finely crafted, wooden scale model kit of an early modern masterpiece, the Unity Temple, captures the lines and details of the building just in miniature form.  The kit comes with easy step-by-step instructions and precision cut parts from fine woods.  Whether you are a fan of history or architectural design, these models will be great conversation pieces for your desk, bookshelf, or table.

Unity Temple:  Constructed between 1905 and 1908, Unity Temple was Frank Lloyd Wright's first building where he used only one material for the entire structure — reinforced concrete. It was also one of the few public buildings that would be built in the Prairie Style.  In designing Unity Temple, Wright attempted to blur the line between nature and building, and more broadly, between the inside and the outside world. The monotone exterior, with its flat roof and overhanging eaves, is meant to blend into its surroundings.

Meticulous details in the model accurately convey the temple’s compact but imposing volumes, from the flat roof and overhanging eaves that cloister the building to the extensive skylights that flood its interior with gentle light. The model uses American Cherry to highlight the design details of this unique building. The kit’s precise adherence to the architect’s design ensures your completed model is as stunningly beautiful and iconic as the original.

Each kit comes complete with all required precision cut parts and clear, easy to follow instructions. All you’ll need to provide is a good quality wood glue, a knife to remove individual parts from their sheets, and a flat work surface to construct the model.
