THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR TRANSGENDER EQUALITY (NCTE) is the nation’s leading social justice organization for transgender equality. NCTE was founded in 2003 by transgender activists who recognized the urgent need for policy and cultural change to advance trans equality. With the support of a nationwide community of transgender people, allies, and advocates, NCTE has an extensive record of advancing life-saving change at the local, state and federal levels.
NCTE STAFF are experts on transgender experiences plus federal, state and employer policies. We are the go-to source for major media outlets about transgender people and the issues they face. Our staff has extensive experience speaking at businesses, organizations, conferences and universities to leadership, staff and students.

STRATEGIES FOR OUR FUTURE
NCTE provides engaging commentary on the history of the trans movement, where it is going, and how it should get there, providing unique insight into the process of policy and social change.
FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL POLICY
As the leading transgender voice in our nation’s capital, NCTE works closely with federal, state and local policymakers, the White House, and federal agencies. NCTE delivers insider updates on issue areas including healthcare, employment, housing, schools, racial and economic justice, and more.
RESULTS OF THE 2015 U.S. TRANSGENDER SURVEY
NCTE completed the largest survey of trans people ever done. The U.S. Transgender Survey’s ground-breaking data enables us to quantify, compare and discuss the discrimination and violence trans people face.
STORYTELLING FOR CHANGE: TRANS VOICES AND EXPERIENCES
One of the best ways to encourage the public to accept trans people is to familiarize them with the lives and stories of trans individuals. At NCTE, our education and outreach programs teach storytelling to trans people, families of trans people, allies, and those who hope to become allies. Our storytelling trainings help bring the stories of many trans people to life.
CREATING A TRANS-INCLUSIVE WORKPLACE
NCTE offers both training and policy review to prepare businesses to treat trans employees with respect and fairness. NCTE helps businesses develop best business practices as employers and human resource officers, including inclusive health care and training for employees.
