love to run. It’s way more than a hobby, it’s a
passion of mine. I ran my ninth consecutive Boston last year, and I was
fortunate to be able to finish the race before the tragedy at the finish line.
Today the desire to do it again next year is stronger than ever—not only to
reach that 10-in-a-row mark but also to honor and celebrate this inspiring
athletic event and the City of Boston, my home.
I also have a strong connection to our oceans and environment. So this run
really is all for the kids. They are our future. It’s so very important to
educate them about what lives below the surface of the ocean as well as the
fragile environment above the surface. Education leads to change, and we need
some of that in the world right now.
So running the Boston Marathon for the New England Aquarium is thus a
dream come true. Perhaps what it really comes down to for me is that I want my
daughter to live
in a world where she can run her own Boston Marathon if she chooses.
The New England Aquarium is an official charity of the 118th Boston Marathon. Funds raised by our runners will support hands-on, interactive outreach programs that reach 45,000 children in diverse communities every year. Through your generosity, Aquarium educators will inspire young children to learn about and protect the world’s oceans.
