Darlene is a general dentist and an Assistant Clinical
Professor at the Art Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco. This will be
her first Boston Marathon®.
There is no greater adventure to me than to be able to run
various distances (road and trail) in familiar and new locations. What I love
and remember most about my runs (from 5k races to ultras and relays) are the
unknown paths that led up to the events, the newly formed friendships, and the
lasting mental lessons that tremendously help and parallel daily life.
Living on the West Coast has fortunately exposed and given
my two daughters and me a great appreciation and love for
sea life. Whether being raised along the city coast, vacationing in the many
seaside towns, or frequently visiting the local aquariums, we wholeheartedly
support marine-related projects and programs.
It’s an honor and gift not only to run but to do so with an
important purpose. I am very excited to be a part of the New England Aquarium
charity team as I fully support their outreach programs to educate every
individual, regardless of their socioeconomic backgrounds, of the importance of
ocean exploration and marine conservation.
Please join me in support of this amazing charity!
The New England Aquarium is an official charity of the 118th Boston Marathon. Funds raised by our runners will support hands-on, interactive outreach programs that reach 45,000 children in diverse communities every year. Through your generosity, Aquarium educators will inspire young children to learn about and protect the world’s oceans.
