Meg works in the Marketing department at the New England Aquarium. The 2014 Boston Marathon® will mark her first time running the 26.2.
I’ve always loved the Aquarium. Growing up just north of Boston, my mom and I would visit all the time. I’ve forever been fascinated by marine life, wanting to know everything I could about whales, sharks and the New England coast.
But when my career interests turned to marketing and communications, I was fortunate to find a job at the very place that has inspired me since childhood. I get to combine my educational background in business and my passion for marine life and the oceans as a member of the marketing team. It’s the best of both worlds. I learn so much from my colleagues every day, and in turn help build the foundation that brings millions of visitors through our doors each year.
Being a part of the Aquarium’s marathon team is the cherry on top. I’ve been an active runner since high school, and now I have the unique opportunity to represent the Aquarium as I take on my first marathon. I am excited for the challenge and passionate about promoting the educational programs we provide to the future ocean protectors in our community.
The New England Aquarium is an official charity of the 118th Boston Marathon. Funds raised by our runners will support hands-on, interactive outreach programs that reach 45,000 children in diverse communities every year. Through your generosity, Aquarium educators will inspire young children to learn about and protect the world’s oceans.
