Raleigh, North Carolina
Gary lived in Boston for six years and says his passion has always been aligned to animal welfare. He was recently married at the South Carolina Aquarium, and he and his wife work with a number of animal rescue groups. This will be his second Boston Marathon®.
I do not consider myself a runner, but I love a
challenge. And when I can combine multiple passions into one challenge, it is
the perfect scenario.
I proudly called Boston home (Go BC Eagles!!) for
6 years before moving to Raleigh in 2008. Prior to Boston, NYC was my home and I
was a front-row witness to the attacks of 9/11. When the
events of the 2013 Boston Marathon unfolded, all those feelings came back and I
knew I had to be a part of the 2014 race. Those who know me understand my love
of all animals—currently I have four dogs and one cat—and the ocean, which I
explore as a PADI AOW diver.
I’m excited that not only
will I be a part of the 2014 Boston Marathon, but more importantly that I will
be raising money for the New England Aquarium’s community outreach programs —all
while pushing myself to a new marathon PR as member of the Aquarium’s Marathon
The New England Aquarium is an official charity of the 118th Boston Marathon. Funds raised by our runners will support hands-on, interactive outreach programs that reach 45,000 children in diverse communities every year. Through your generosity, Aquarium educators will inspire young children to learn about and protect the world’s oceans.
