Sean is a Giant Ocean Tank Aquarist who, in addition to running and scuba diving, lists rock climbing, slacklining, hiking and backpacking among his interests. This will be his second Boston Marathon® and his first as part of the New England Aquarium Marathon Team.
I started running marathons three years ago and at every
race I have witnessed ordinary people overcome tremendous challenges. Running
long distances reminds us that through dedication and persistence it is
possible to achieve seemingly unattainable goals. When I reflect on all of the
tremendous challenges facing our oceans, I am optimistic that we can achieve
the goal of making positive changes by investing long-term in our future.
The New England Aquarium’s outreach programs are
an integral part of this investment in the future. By educating and inspiring
the next generation of ocean stewards we can create a long term strategy to
protect our blue planet. Thank you for your support, and
with it I am excited to see what we are able to accomplish!
The New England Aquarium is an official charity of the 118th Boston Marathon. Funds raised by our runners will support hands-on, interactive outreach programs that reach 45,000 children in diverse communities every year. Through your generosity, Aquarium educators will inspire young children to learn about and protect the world’s oceans.
