Ron ran the 2013 Boston Marathon® as part of the New England Aquarium Marathon Team, but was unable to complete the race. He'll be running again this year with Cheri, his wife and teammate.
I started running two years ago with a goal in mind to
finish the Boston Marathon. My training started with short walks around the
neighborhood, and then proceeded to push myself further than I ever
imagined. Over this two year period, I’ve completed 8 full marathons and
17 half marathons.
In September of 2012, I was honored to be selected to the
inaugural New England Aquarium Boston Marathon Team. As our New England
Aquarium team gathered for freezing training runs and group events, our team
became great friends. The tragic events of the 2013 Boston Marathon
prevented me from crossing the finish line, but it won’t prevent me from
completing my goal. With the tremendous help of our Aquarium team, I’m
determined to cross the finish line in April 2014 while supporting a world-class organization—the New England Aquarium.
The New England Aquarium is an official charity of the 118th Boston Marathon. Funds raised by our runners will support hands-on, interactive outreach programs that reach 45,000 children in diverse communities every year. Through your generosity, Aquarium educators will inspire young children to learn about and protect the world’s oceans.
