Keegan's pace in the 2013 Boston Marathon® would have put her near the finish line and the site of the first explosion—had she not stopped to talk with some friends. Like many others she wasn't sure if she'd run this year.
Despite growing up in Colorado, the New England Aquarium made
a lasting impression on me starting when I was just 5 years old and visited for
the first time. After moving to the East Coast to attend Boston College in
2004, I became adamant about becoming involved with one of their amazing
Dreams were made a reality in 2008 when I joined the Aquarium
as a volunteer with the penguin colony.
More than five years later, I have gained a great appreciation for the
educational experiences that are available to younger generations in diverse

training, group get-togethers and countless jokes and posts were just the start

Because I did not finish last year’s marathon, I was fortunate
enough to be invited back by the B.A.A. for the 2014 marathon. Regardless, I
cannot imagine finishing on April 21 without the team that got me there in 2013,
and I am honored to be representing the New England Aquarium again.
Long distance runner Kara Goucher once said, “That’s the
thing about running: your greatest runs are rarely measured by racing success.
They are moments in time when running allows you to see how wonderful your life
