Never in our lifetimes has there been greater concern about the First Amendment. Threats to journalists, “fake news,” controversy over religious freedom, the role of mass protest, among other issues, are now the subject of conversation every day, everywhere. Thanks to the committed support of donors like you, the Newseum remains the leading authority on promoting, explaining and defending the five freedoms of the First Amendment.

In 2016, your giving helped us:

  • Reach more than 6.7 million students in the United States and internationally through, where students learn how to discern “real news” and are exposed to dynamic lessons about our basic freedoms.
  • Show the power of photojournalism through the re-launch of our popular Pulitzer Prize Photographs Gallery and the opening of The Annenberg Space for Photography’s “REFUGEE” exhibit.
