Support the Black Public Defender Association today!

Launched just nearly two years ago, the Black Public Defender Association (BPDA) is based on the principle that creating and maintaining a national network of skilled Black public defenders who identify with and come from the communities most disproportionally impacted by the criminal legal system, is necessary to fight against and end mass incarceration.

In only 18 months since its creation, BPDA has:

  • LED over two national conferences focused on race and the criminal legal system with over 500 people in attendance
  • TRAINED public defenders across the U.S. and abroad on how to tackle race inside the courtroom and in the legal system
  • ADVOCATED on racial justice issues becoming a “go-to” press source featured in the Washington Post, Baltimore Sun, and Chicago Tribune
  • INSPIRED over 65 black law students to apply for the BPDA Summer Fellowship Program and three recipients were selected to receive summer stipends and professional development training

With your support, BPDA can continue the racial justice work through student fellowship programs, skills and leadership training, national advocacy race and more! Together we will make the promise of equal justice for all a reality!
