One Last Effort to Protect Last Year's Parity Law
Deadline Extended to Wednesday, September 23rd!
Urge Your Representative to Sign onto Rep. Patrick Kennedy's Letter in Support of Strong Parity Regulations
After years of hard work by individuals with mental health and substance use conditions, service providers, families and advocates, Congress passed the Paul Wellstone and Pete Domenici Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 on October 3, 2008. It is essential that regulations are issued to avoid misinterpretation of the law and to ensure access to critical mental health and addiction services.
Rep. Patrick Kennedy is circulating a letter which will be sent to the Secretaries of the three departments—Labor, Health and Human Services (HHS) and Treasury—to issue regulations by October 3, 2009 that reflect the clear Congressional intent, as well as addressing other concerns raised during the public comment period.
Ask your Representative to sign onto Rep. Patrick Kennedy’s letter by 5:00 pm on September 23rd.
