Tell Congress: Vote NO on Repeal of Health Reform
The House of Representatives will vote on Wednesday, January 19, to repeal the new health reform law. The Senate is also expected to vote on repeal.
Your voice is needed to tell Congress that health care reform is critical to people with mental health and substance use conditions and must be allowed to move forward! The law covers most uninsured Americans while holding down costs and improving the quality of care we all receive. Access to mental health care and substance use treatment would be greatly expanded and significant steps would be taken to improve coordination between behavioral health and general health care. Preventive services and activities would be encouraged and the availability of behavioral health professionals would be improved. And insurers are prohibited from denying coverage for pre-existing conditions.
Repeal will increase the deficit by over $230 billion over 10 years and take control of health care away from families and patients and back in the hands of insurers.
Twenty percent of the new Congress never voted on the law. Returning members also need to hear from you about the importance of health reform.
Tell them we can’t go back!
