It's time to prioritize and pass the Paycheck Fairness Act!
Dear Member of Congress,
As millions of voters this past November made clear, now is the time to take a stand for the economic well-being of women and families. Women continue to face a pernicious gender wage gap, which means they have less money to support themselves and their families and save for the future. I urge you to support the Paycheck Fairness Act, critical legislation that would close loopholes and help combat and undo discriminatory pay practices that still plague our workplaces more than 55 years after the Equal Pay Act became law.Even today, women in the United States today are paid only 80 cents for every dollar paid to men. For many women of color, the numbers are even worse. Latinas are typically paid 53 cents, Native American women 58 cents, Black women 61 cents, white women 77 cents and Asian American women 85 cents for every dollar paid to white, non-Hispanic men, and within these groups women of many ethnic and national backgrounds continue to suffer from even larger gaps in wages.Show your commitment to fair pay by co-sponsoring and passing the Paycheck Fairness Act!
