Protect new moms in emergency coronavirus response!

Dear Member of Congress,

The COVID-19 crisis has strained our hospitals and health care system beyond capacity, and has also shed light on our country's already failing maternity care system and exacerbated existing maternal health inequities.

I encourage you to build on past bipartisan efforts to ensure that pregnant, birthing, and postpartum people are supported during the COVID-19 pandemic, by extending coverage to one year postpartum for all women with pregnancy-related Medicaid, making virtual prenatal and postpartum care and remote monitoring available, and improving access to midwives, community birth, community-based doulas, peer childbirth educators, and peer counselors.

And I encourage you to learn more about these recommendations by viewing a new fact sheet released by Every Mother Counts, March for Moms and the National Partnership for Women & Families, found here:

Now, more than ever, there is a need to enact long-term, stabilizing policies that better support growing families, especially for our most vulnerable populations.
