Ask your state legislators to fund brain research that could lead to critical advancements in stroke prevention and treatment
There is much doctors, scientists and researchers don’t understand about the human brain and stroke. With better knowledge about how the brain works, these professionals are more likely to discover the next transformative stroke therapy, treatment or prevention method. This is why the funding created by this legislation is so important. Tell your legislators how important it is to have a deeper understanding of the brain and brain injuries. This legislation could ultimately result in more lives saved and better recoveries from stroke.

Support SB 836
Dear [Assembly Member/Senator],
I am writing to ask you to support SB 836, which provides state funding for brain research. This research program will complement the National Institutes of Health's BRAIN Initiative. The NIH Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies (BRAIN) Initiative is part of a new federal focus aimed at revolutionizing our understanding of the human brain.
The initiative aims to fill in major gaps in knowledge about the human brain to help researchers find ways to treat, cure and even prevent brain disorders, such as stroke. Passing this legislation will put California at the forefront of this "space race" style effort.
There is much doctors, scientists and researchers still don't understand about brain injuries and brain disorders, such as stroke. This is why the funding created by SB 836 is so important. It could result in improved stroke prevention, diagnosis, treatment and recovery. I join National Stroke Association in urging your support for this important legislation.
