Help Save the Historic Tax Credit

Suggested messages:

  • State your serious concern that the historic tax credit was eliminated in the House version of the tax reform bill. This proven community redevelopment incentive is essential to revitalizing our main streets, towns, and cities and to preserving our nation's heritage.
  • Explain why you value the HTC program, and that historic rehabilitation projects—typically deemed too risky by conventional financing—will not get done without it.
  • Mention specific HTC projects (either completed or planned) in your state/district as evidence of the power of the program.
  • Urge your lawmaker to vocalize support for the HTC with Congressional leadership and the tax writing committees immediately and often.
  • Follow up your phone call by sharing with your lawmaker a video of President Reagan supporting the HTC.
