Help Save the Historic Tax Credit

After nearly forty years of demonstrated success, the federal historic tax credit (HTC) was eliminated in the House tax reform bill released on November 2. The Senate bill is expected to be released within the next few weeks.

It’s not too late for HTC supporters to act, but time is now extremely short. Emails and calls to House and Senate offices are still timely if done in the next few days.

Join us in urging lawmakers to send a message to the staff and members of the House Ways and Means and Senate Finance Committee stating how critical the historic tax credit is to removing blighted buildings and creating construction and permanent jobs where you live. Please customize the message to your delegation below. The more personal the better. We will also forward a copy of your letter to tax writing committee members and staff to ensure your voice is heard.

Thank you.

Help Save the Historic Tax Credit

Dear [Decision Maker],

I am writing to request your help in ensuring the federal historic tax credit (HTC) is retained in a reformed tax code. The recently released House tax reform bill fails to include this vital federal incentive, a proven tool that removes blighted buildings, creates local jobs and revitalizes older commercial districts. Please let your colleagues on the tax writing committees know about your support of the HTC.
