The House of Representatives will vote on the so-called "Student Success Act." Despite the clever title, the bill is a giant step in the wrong direction for students. This bill turns a blind eye to the huge gaps in achievement and graduation rates that exist for children of color, low-income students, students with disabilities and English language learners.
This is the bill that is supposed to provide the foundation for improving our nation's education system. Instead, it undermines the basic notion that states must be held accountable for improving the achievement of all of their students.
Tell your Representative to VOTE NO on the Student Success Act and speak out on behalf of students during the debate on the bill.
Dear [Decision Maker],
I am writing to urge you to vote no on the Student Success Act (H.R. 5) and to speak out from the floor against the bill.
Sincerely,[Your Name] [Your Address] [City, State ZIP]
