No federal law explicitly requires fair and equal treatment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender individuals in critical arenas including employment, housing, and education. In fact, there are still big gaps in federal laws protecting women from sex discrimination. As a result, individuals' lives across the country can still be thrown into turmoil without legal recourse. The Equality Act will codify basic rights for LGBT individuals for the first time in our country's history and strengthen legal protections for all women.
Discrimination on the basis of sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity has no place in America. It's time to close the gaps in the law.
Help us fight for equality — tell your Members of Congress to support the Equality Act.
Dear [Decision Maker],
I am writing to ask you to support the Equality Act -- a bill that will close gaps in our antidiscrimination laws and codify basic rights for LGBT individuals for the first time in our country's history.
Sincerely,[Your Name] [Your Address] [City, State ZIP]
