About the Event

1. What is #MyLungLife Hockey Challenge?

The #MyLungLife Hockey Challenge is the Lung Health Foundation’s first ever, Canada-wide peer-to-peer fundraising campaign entirely based on Canada’s favourite sport the good ol’ hockey game!

2. What is #MyLungLife?

A new fundraising movement that encourages Canadians to turn their passion into action by creating virtual peer-to-peer fundraisers based around their active lifestyle goals and achievements.

3. What happened to the Walter Gretzky Street Hockey Tournament?

Due to the current global health crisis, the Lung Health Foundation made the difficult decision to cancel the Walter Gretzky Street Hockey Tournament.

The #MyLungLife Hockey Challenge is a great way for our loyal participants to get active for the 1 in 5 Canadians that live with lung disease. ,/p>

Registering

1. How do I register?

Simply click here to get started!

Next, you can choose your division: Hockey Goals, Train like a Hockey Player, or My own MVP Challenge. Follow the registration process through. If you get stuck or have any questions, you can reach us at breathingcrew@lunghealth.ca and we will be able to help!

2. Can I register a team?

Yes! You can do that right here.

3. Is there a minimum age requirement to participate?

Participants of all ages are encouraged to take part. We recommend that participants under the age of 16 check with a parent or guardian before signing up!

4. Can I donate without registering?

Yes, you can donate without registering by clicking Donate Now. Or simply search for a Participant or Team you are looking to support. If you are just looking to provide general support, you can make a donation here.

5. My team is already registered, how can I join them?

If you have already registered as a participant, this can be done right in your participant centre. From the participant centre, click on “Profile”. You will see a tab just below that reads “Event Options”. Here you will be able to join an existing team.

Participating

1. What do I need to do? How do I fundraise at home?

Getting started can be as simple as a puck drop.Here are a few activities that can count as your fundraising activity "goal". Simply encourage your network to donate to you for each “goal” you reach!

We Shoot, We Score: Score (or block) a ball hockey goal in your driveway, backyard, or… anywhere!

Leg Day: Complete any workout. Run, walk, cycle, lift, or follow our Train Like a Hockey Player guide the choice is yours!

Hat Trick: End the day having nourished yourself with three healthy, and balanced, meals.

Line Change: Get up from your workspace! Refresh yourself with 10 minutes of movement before getting back to your work or play.

2. Can someone help me set up my personal page?

The Breathing Crew would love to help set up your personal page; email breathingcrew@lunghealth.caor call 1-888-344-5864 to connect with us anytime between 8:30 and 4:00pm

3. How do I ask for and collect donations?

Ask for and collect donations safely and securely by calling and emailing your networks. You can also post your progress on social media. If you need support fundraising, reference the Event Toolkit or reach out to the Breathing Crew at breathingcrew@lunghealth.ca or 1-888-344-5864

4. I don’t play hockey, are there other ways to participate?

Yes, absolutely! If you don’t play hockey, you can Train like a Hockey Player or set your activity goals through your own MVP Challenge. Contact the Breathing Crew today for more ideas.

Donations

1. How do I see who donated to me?

Donors can be seen through your Participant Centre, on your home page, under Contacts. Here you can also keep track of who you have thanked and who is waiting to hear from you! You can create, save and send out emails right from the Participant Centre.

2. Will my donors receive tax receipts?

Yes, donors will be emailed a tax receipt for all donations over $10

3. Can I collect cash or cheque donations?

Due to the global health crisis, we are encouraging all participants and donors to send their donations online.
