Welcome to my #MyLungLife Hockey Challenge page!
The first weekend n June,my friend "Wally and I" would have been hosting the 14th annual Walter Gretzky Street Hockey Tournament; but, unfortunately, Lions Park is closed due to COVID-19.
Never one to step down from a challenge, the Lung Health Foundation is launching a CANADA wide virtual ball hockey challenge, so that everyone who has a loved one with a lung disease, or that they just love hockey, can help raise funds for lung health!
You see, I lost my Grandfather and both parents to COPD, and that is why I raise funds for lung health research. Since starting with The Lung Health Foundation (formerly known as The Lung Association) in 2005 in Hamilton of the money we raised, $2.438 million dollars has been donated to research! .
The research is conducted at McMaster University, The Firestone Institute of Respiratory Health and University of Guelph. All of these great research centres are in our own back yard.
Many thanks to our donors, sponsors and event participants that made this happen, as we could not have accomplished that feat without your help!. We will continue to raise funds for research, until we eradicate lung disease!
My goal during the 70 day challenge is to walk 1/4 mile each day, and ultimately hope to log 25 miles towards being healthy!
So join Walter and I , in the #MyLungLife Hockey Challenge, as we challenge all hockey lovers to have fun, raise funds to help lung health research and check lung disease into the boards!
