Make the call: help more people access the benefits they're eligible to receive!

Project Bread and our partners in the Close the Gap coalition are at the State House today calling on our state legislators to ensure that as many low-income families as possible have access to adequate food. Can you help us by calling your state representative today?

In Massachusetts, there is a significant gap between the number of individuals who are potentially eligible for SNAP and the number who actually recieve those benefits. This is called the “SNAP Gap” and it is an issue that affects an estimated 741,000 people in our state.

The applications for Masshealth and SNAP require much of the same information and the process to apply for both could be streamlined if there was a common application that determines all program eligibility for applicants at the same time. This application will not only improve low-income residents' access to food, but will also bring Massachusetts an estimated $1.2 billion federal dollars that could help boost our local economy.

Call today to show your support and close the SNAP Gap. We are at the state house lobbying in support of this bill, but as you know, calls from constituents can help make a big difference-- so please join us!

To find your elected officials, please enter your ZIP Code. If you live in a split district, you may need to enter your full address.

Hi, my name is [your name] from [your town]. My zip code is [zip code].

I'm calling because I believe no one in Massachusetts should go hungry. Currently, an estimated 741,000 people in our state are potentially eligible for SNAP, but are not receiving benefits.

By closing this "SNAP Gap" we can reduce hunger, improve health, and support the economy.

Please support Representative Jay Livingstone's amendment to the FY2020 House Budget to close the SNAP Gap. Can we count on your support?

Thank you for your time.
