Physicians Committee DoctorsCall Today: Ask Your Members of Congress to Co-sponsor the ENRICH Act

Please take a minute to call your representative to sign on as co-sponsor of the ENRICH Act (H.R. 1411). Please be polite and encouraging.

Use the following talking points as a guide:

  • I am calling as a constituent to urge you to sign on as co-sponsor of the ENRICH Act (H.R. 1411).
  • The ENRICH Act is a bipartisan bill introduced by Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) and Rep. Pat Tiberi (R-Ohio) to increase lifestyle education in medical schools.
  • There is a federal recommendation from the National Academy of Sciences that medical schools teach at minimum 25 hours of nutrition. Nearly three out of four medical schools do not meet this minimum standard.
  • Further, the ENRICH Act will boost education on other lifestyle factors that contribute to chronic disease such as physical activity. Nearly nine out of 10 medical schools do not integrate physical activity training into curricula.
  • The ENRICH Act will make the necessary investment in preventative medicine by updating medical school curricula that will prevent and mitigate costly and fatal chronic disease.
  • Please sign on as a co-sponsor of the ENRICH Act and do everything you can to ensure its passage.
