U.S. CapitolCall Today: Ask Your Senators to Limit Animal Testing

Please take a moment to thank your senators for supporting the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act (S. 697) to reduce and replace animals in chemical tests with human-relevant nonanimal methods. Please be polite and encouraging. Use the following talking points as a guide:

  • I am calling as a constituent to thank you for supporting restrictions on animal testing as outlined in the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act (S. 697). Thank you for supporting the bill when it goes to the Senate floor.
  • The bill contains many provisions that will more accurately protect the public health and reduce and replace animals in chemical tests.
  • Using quick and human-relevant in vitro tests recommended by the National Academy of Sciences is a more effective way to protect public health and the environment.
  • The bill requires the EPA to fund the development and use of nonanimal methods, which will improve public health.
  • I know you’ll continue to support the bill, including its provisions to replace animal tests and bring toxicity testing into the 21st century.
