Taiwanese Government: Cancel plans to expose unvaccinated beagle puppies to the rabies virus now!

Beagle Puppy

The Taiwanese Council of Agriculture (COA) is planning to test the infectivity of a new strain of rabies virus in dogs. The government agency aims to inject rabies into at least 14 puppies, and it is hoping that delaying the experiments to 2014 would let the world forget about this awful experiment.

The infectivity of the rabies virus and the resulting course of infection in dogs have been well established after decades of research. The proposed experiment is unnecessary and cruel, especially when more scientifically valid research can be conducted without harming animals.

Doctors have urged COA to focus on an aggressive rabies vaccination campaign asking all citizens of Taiwan to vaccinate their dogs and other animals – instead of wasting valuable time, effort, and money on useless experiments. But COA does not appear to be listening, so we are now calling on Taiwan’s premier Jiang Yi-huah. Please fill out the form below to send Premier Jiang an e-mail.
