Food for Life Instructor Christine Mania

Christine became a Food for Life instructor because she loves cooking and vegan food. After being a vegetarian for 20 years, she switched to a completely plant-based diet in 2005 and never looked back. Christine has since learned that eating plants prevents many common diseases, such as heart disease and cancer, and believes people can thrive on a plant-based diet if only they knew how to cook. In her cooking classes, she demystifies vegan diets and shares tips and tricks for healthy plant-based living. Christine has a certificate in plant-based nutrition from Cornell University and completed the professional plant-based cooking course through Rouxbe Cooking School.

Why did you become a Food for Life instructor?

"For years I thought it would be too hard to be vegan, but when I finally made the change, I quickly learned it was easy and healthy, too. Best decision I've ever made."

Here is what class attendees are saying…

“This class has made a huge difference in my overall well-being. I’ve lost 18 pounds in seven weeks. I feel better, sleep better, and am in an overall better mood. Even my skin and hair have improved.”
-Tiffany M., Providence Cancer Center, Anchorage, Alaska

"Everyone who is concerned about nutrition will benefit from this class — and enjoy it. For those of us challenged to survive cancer, it is a great inspiration!”
-Brian C., St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, Conn.

"After five weeks on the program, my husband and I have both lost 10 pounds. My blood sugar has dropped 30 points. My doctor says I may get off all medications at the next visit. I am a breast cancer survivor and my husband has heart disease, so this is a must for us!”
-Annie H., Roanoke Recreation Center, Roanoke, Texas
