Food for Life Instructor Ayla Sarnoff
My passion for food and culinary arts began when I was a little
one watching my mother cook with herbs she grew in our garden. Throughout my
teens and early twenties, I worked in fine dining farm to table restaurants,
whose cuisine was based on local, seasonal produce in its natural state.
This sparked my interest in nutrition, and I craved to learn
more about the healing properties of plant foods I was cooking with. I began
studying nutrition, Chinese Medicine, yoga, and Ayurveda, while continuing to
practice cooking with whole plant foods. I was fascinated by the relationship
of nature’s patterns to one’s health and state of being.
From my own research and practice I found great satisfaction and
balance by following nature's rhythms, eating with the seasons, and consuming a
whole food, plant based diet. I was longing for a way to share my passion for
health and cooking, so I began teaching Food for Life classes in 2010.
My love for food is as strong as my love for travel, and I have
taught the Food for Life program in South Carolina, California, and Hawaii. I
am currently living in the Boulder, CO area and will start offering classes in
Colorado in 2014, while continuing to teach classes in Hawaii part of the
My favorite part about teaching the Food for Life program is
seeing how people transform over the course of a 4-7 week class. With the right
information and cooking skills, it is amazing to see my students lose weight,
eliminate medications, look and feel their best, and most of all discover
health and satisfaction at every age.
Why did you become a Food for Life instructor?
"To help humanity and give others the confidence and courage to prevent and survive disease and sickness."
