Food for Life Instructor Jose Reyes
is a Food for Life educator in Central New Mexico. He holds a special education
teaching certification, a certification on plant-based nutrition from Cornell
University, and a World Peace Diet facilitator certification. Jose suffered
from three strokes and two heart attacks before understanding that animal
products were the main cause of his health problems. He used to take more than
ten medications, suffer from type 2 diabetes, have pancreas and liver problems,
and weighed 280 pounds. Now, Jose is medication free. After these experiences,
Jose promised himself to spread the word about whole-foods plant-based nutrition
to anyone who wants to hear the message.
Why did you become a Food for Life instructor?
"I decided to follow the Plant-based diet as a way to heal myself
and others from all the terrible chronic diseases we have in our modern
society. After my own experience, my only purpose in life is to help others
regain their health and to discover the beauty of feeling free of illnesses and
health problems by just following the right Plant-Based, low-fat, whole-grain
