PPMD is calling on all advocates to take action on healthcare priorities that impact our community.
This year’s policy priorities include urging Congress NOT to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act until there is a guarantee that people with Duchenne will continue to have access to equal or better coverage. Please take a moment today to tell Congress why this matters so much to our community!
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) – while not perfect – included many reforms aimed at ending discrimination within the health insurance industry against communities such as those with Duchenne. PPMD has been working in partnership with the National Health Council and other organizations to ensure that our community’s core values are considered as congressional leaders undertake their daunting responsibility of re-evaluating health insurance coverage in America.
While our Duchenne has many healthcare priorities, our core message is simple:
We urge Congress not to repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act until there is a guarantee that our Duchenne community will continue to have access to equal or better coverage.
Our Duchenne Community’s Healthcare Priorities Include:
Whatever ones position on the ACA overall, we cannot deny that the law ushered in much-needed protections for our community – and whatever law takes its place must be a step forward – not a step back. PPMD will be working independently and with other patient advocates to ensure such protections are retained during this very fluid time.
P.S.: Over the course of the next few months PPMD will be issuing Action Alerts for the community to take action on to include FDA related legislation (PDFUA) and funding for agencies that are critical to our community. Make sure you are signed up for our Action Alerts so you know when you need to take action!
If you take action and have not already registered, you will receive periodic updates and communications from Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy.
