Congress recently passed a short-term budget extension and will be debating several spending bills in the coming weeks. One of the bills to be determined will be the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), a department that has already used its funding to implement harmful immigration policies. The current administration has enacted policies and practices that have impacted the health and well-being of immigrants, and this week we are asking you to call on your representatives to protect immigrant women and families from further harm.

Suggested Script:

I am a physician and a constituent in Representative ________’s district. As a health care provider and someone who cares about access to health care, I’m concerned about restrictions this administration has imposed on immigrant families seeking health care. As Congress considers the Department of Homeland Security’s spending bill, please ask Representative ________ to ensure that no federal funding be used to support or continue policies or practices that harm immigrant families, especially those seeking health care.
