"The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones that do," - Steve Jobs
the IUDM family has shown me that with a little bit of hope, joy, and love, you and me can change the world.
Indiana Univeristy Dance Marathon was founding in 1991 in honor of Ryan White. IUDM is the second largest student-run philanthropy in the nation. This year-long fundraising effort supports Riley Hospotal for Children and finishes in a 36 hour Dance Marathon where thousands of students come together to stand in honor of one goal: instilling hope in the families at Riley Hospital for Children.
This year, I am extremely lucky to be standing for the 36 hours with my 60 best friends - the Alumni Relations Commitee. AR is one of many reasons that I dance..
I dance for Ryan White (RW), a kid who spent the last moments he had on earth fighting for inclusion and ensuring that no sick kids would be treated the way that he was treated. I dance for Ashley Louise Crouse (ALC), a member of the 2005 IUDM executive council who lived each day trying to make every individual she encountered feel special. I dance for the children at Riley who gained their angel wings too early. I dance for our IUDM angels.
I dance for every single one of our Riley buddies who are given the chance to be just a kid again in thanks to Riley Hospital. I dance for the smiles, laughs, and joy that they bring to life.
I dance for the overwhelming amount of passion and selflessness that the tennis center will be filled with on November 2nd, 2018 when thousands of college students come together to stand for something so much bigger than themselves.
I dance for the hope that one day we will dance in celebration rather than for a cure.
I dance for every individual who has been / is / or will be a part of the IUDM family...
A family who is crazy enough to know that they can change the world.
